Is STAR-D the same as Cholov Yisroel?
No. STAR-D meets the universal industry standard for kosher dairy and does not represent Cholov Yisroel. Cholov Yisroel requires a supervisor to be present from the start of milking, which is a separate, stricter standard.
Can a Philippine dairy product carry STAR-D?
Qualified dairy items from companies certified by STAR-K can use the STAR-D symbol. During certification, STAR-K reviews your ingredients and production and confirms which products qualify and how the symbol should appear on the label.
